Recipes
Génépi has traditionally been associated with liqueur. Even the word "génépi" refers both to the plants and to the beverage. But there are other recipes to try!
Génépi liqueur
- Steep the flowers in one liter of 40%-45% alcohol by volume.
- Let it steep for 40 days, then filter.
- Add 30 lumps of sugar (roughly 160g).
- Once sugar has dissolved, it's ready to savor!
Of course, there are many possible variations for this recipe according to your taste. You might want to try it with more (or less) sugar, different kinds of alcohols, etc.
Each of our sachets comes with a label for your bottle. You can also download it from here.
Génépi aperitif
- Mix one bottle of white wine (Chardonnay works quite well) with a quarter liter of génépi liqueur and 15 lumps of sugar (80g). Serve chilled.
With this recipe, you get three quarters liter liqueur and one liter aperitif out of a single sachet. But for even more flavor, we recommend the following recipe:
- Steep the flowers in one half liter of 40%-45% alcohol by volume.
- Let it steep for 40 days, then filter.
- Mix it with two bottles of white wine (Chardonnay) and 45 lumps of sugar (250g). Serve chilled.
The flavor of génépi is much more intense and makes for a truly exceptional aperitif.
Génépi herbal tea
- Steep one half of your génépi sachet in one liter of boiling water.
- Let it steep for 3 minutes.
- Add sugar.
This herbal tea is full of stomachic and digestive properties. Quite nice after a good meal!
But beware, génépi herbal tea is somewhat hard to dose. Génépi is naturally bitter, and this bitterness can quickly overpower everything else. We recommend to let it steep for less than 3 minutes at first, taste it, and let it steep a little more after that should it need more flavor.
